Step: 1 Prepare yourself, wash your hands, and wear disposable gloves if it required.
Step: 2 Make sure bed brakes are engaged or bedside rails are up if necessary to avoid accidents.
Step: 3 Remove all the old linens, pillows and place them in a laundry hamper.
Step: 4 Fold the draw sheet and roll the mackintosh and place it on a chair.
Step: 5 Remove the bottom sheet and the messy mattress cover.
Step: 6 Check for any damage on the mattress or if needed clean or replace it.
Step: 7 Now place the bottom sheet on the mattress and tuck it tightly under the mattress.
Step: 8 Place the top sheet over the bottom sheet, making sure that it hangs evenly on both sides of the bed. Finally, tuck the top sheet at the foot end.
Step: 9 Add blankets on the top of the sheet if required, and fold the top sheet over the blanket.
Step: 10 Put the pillowcase on the pillow and place it at the head of the bed.
Step: 11 If a bedspread is used place it on top of the bed.
Step: 12 Make sure that the bed is smooth and comfortable for the patient.
Step: 13 Help the patient move back to the center of the bed.
Step: 14 Now safely remove your gloves and wash your hands properly.
Step: 15 Finally, record the date and timing of the bed change.
